ENS201 Gagnrýn skrif
Lýsing
This course is designed primarily for students in academic settings, and builds upon the experience and skill obtained from ENS101. The intent of this course, however, is not to teach you how to prepare research for any particular discipline or subject (this will be covered in TÆK301 – Tækniskjölun/Technical writing). Instead, it will explore and allow practice of general research techniques and processes that will be easily applicable to many academic disciplines. The student will be free to select a topic that intrigues them, and they will practice all of the essential elements of preparing a piece of academic writing — planning, researching, writing, rewriting, editing and formatting for presentation – by building that topic into a formal research paper.
Throughout the course there is a focus on how to correctly use style standards and citation methodology. This will help students to clearly understand why it is important to document and cite their sources, and to do so consistently and correctly.
The Modern Language Association (MLA) standards for citation and formatting will be used throughout this course. However, other styles of writing (such as APA and Chicago Manual) will also be discussed.
